We are launching the Southport Learning Town vision with a one-day Learning Festival at The Atkinson Arts Centre on Lord Street in Southport on Saturday 14th June 2025 from 10.30 am to 3.00 pm. Everything is free and open to all.
Sing along with a choir (you don’t have to be a singer), watch an alchemy mix of science and magic, learn an original song or join in a drama workshop (most suitable for 9-13 age range). No booking required – just wander in take part.
ArtUK is coming to the Theatre Bar in the afternoon so we can investigate pictures in a fun way and, in the morning, there will be sessions for parents and carers of young children. Alongside this Jan will be escorting groups through the day to learn about the fascinating facade of the building, a face painter will be in the foyer and surprise magic tricks may just appear wherever you are. Giant Bubbles will be on display in the garden accompanied by the music of The Beatles.

• Art UK Investigating Art (afternoon) Tagger is a micro volunteering opportunity available to anyone on the Art UK website. It allows people to add keywords to artworks, which in turn makes them much more discoverable for others. It is also a process that encourages looking closely at artworks and building visual literacy.
